Rudge Powell Band

  • Tennessee Brew Works 809 Ewing Avenue Nashville, TN, 37203 United States (map)

Kerr Rudge grew up in a home filled with the music of a wide range of artists, from Sam Cooke to The Beatles. His grandfather, a singer-songwriter in his own right, introduced Kerr to classic country artists like Hank Williams, Conway Twitty and Don Williams. His family's musical appreciation set the stage for Kerr’s own songs, whose effortless melodies, soulful vocals and tight construction draw from the well of his earliest influences.
Kerr started writing songs at 13 and by the age of 14 was spending summers in New York City learning the craft of songwriting at the School of Creative and Perforning Arts. He has recorded songs at the legendary Dubway Studio and in the summer of 2018 debuted his original songs at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York City.
Itching to be a part of the Nashville music scene, Kerr packed up his hand-me-down Toyota and headed south. He has played dozens of writer's rounds and shows around town, and is simultaneously studying Songwriting at Belmont University.
Kerr is a prolific songwriter who accompanies himself on both the guitar and piano. His songs continue to evolve and have been shaped by his love of artists such as Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, and Chris Stapleton.
