Born and raised in the factory and farm town of Kokomo, Indiana. Colby’s musical journey started by playing in church and working at the local music store. His musical influences ranged from country, folk & blues, to grunge, rap, & prog rock. This diversity in influence has manifest in the various projects that Colby has played in over the last 20 years. A journey that has taken him from Indiana, to New York City, and now Nashville with countless other towns, bars, and venues passed through while touring. At the center of all the projects, experiences, and stops along the way has been songwriting and storytelling. Expressing through lyric and melody the observations of the world around and the feelings within.
Colby’s latest project draws from his early folk and singer songwriter influences like Paul Simon, James Taylor, and Jim Croce and is inspired by the new voices of Outlaw Country like Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, and Chris Stapleton. You can find the ‘It’s About Time’ EP on all major streaming platforms. Colby is continuing to write, record, and gig solo, with his longtime compadre Teddy Jones on Saxophone, or with a full band.
